Middle Borns
Key Phrases: Possibly the entertainer of the family; diplomatic; even-tempered; peacekeeping (though sometimes “the trouble-maker” if there is any trouble among siblings); loyal to their peer group - having relatively more friends than siblings; relaxed attitude.
*One does not have to be exactly in the middle to be a middle born. As long as you have an older and a younger sibling (no more than 4 years difference in age from you and both), then you are a middle. Families can have multiple middle-borns.
The Middle Born's motto may be "Life is not fair." They didn't get the privileges of the oldest, nor did they get away with the kinds of things the youngest did. All in all, they are well-adjusted individuals. Highly influenced by the older child, a middle child will likely be very different, seeking his/her own limelight in another way. They are good mediators or diplomats. They get along well with others. They do guard their thoughts and feelings rather than expose themselves to a chance of being embarrassed. They are not spoiled. They value relationships. They can be risk-takers. They're most often described as peacemakers and confidants.
Effects of being a Middle Born:
•Mysterious and difficult to pin down as a true archetype because Middle-Borns have played the role of both last-born and Middle-born.
•The Middle Born may be overly competitive and wanting to take over the oldest child’s throne. In any case, a Middle-Born's personality is usually the opposite of those of the First Born's. If the first born is a loner, the next born will have numerous friends. If the first born is ambitious, the second born may be more laid back. The second born, after all, has to carve out his or her own distinct identity, and the first born has already made a claim on the adult-oriented and ambitious traits.
•Middle children may take longer to choose a career than Firstborn or later-borns. They may deliberately make opposite choices than the First Born; if the First-Born is a doctor, the Middle child may choose to be a firefighter or police officer.
• Since they didn't stand out in the family as much while growing up, they place great value on loyalty—they are the likeliest to remain monogamous in their relationships.
