A Powerful Ascendant   

In Astrology, the planet that rules the Rising Sign or Ascendant (Asc) is the “chart ruler” and the lens through which all other aspects of the chart are focused and considered.   The Rising degree determines the layout of the entire House system in a chart and marks the beginning of the First House, which signifies one’s physical body and style choices - how you present yourself to the world.

A person with the a powerful Ascendant is inherently endowed with a strong sense of self-identity. They find it easy to use their personality when dealing with others, perhaps soliciting their influence to support a worthy cause. A double-cushioned ego and confidence support their positive actions.

To gain a feeling of fulfillment in the work they do, the work should closely follow the lines of their personal likes.  This seems like obvious advice for anyone, but because a person with a powerful Ascendant has such a clear awareness of their identity, they will be doubly miserable in a career that doesn’t align with their values and talents.  These talents are, to some extent, described by the Ascendant or Rising sign, as well as by the ruler of the First House and any planets contained in the First House.
