The Basics

Aquarians tend to be friendly, original, intuitive, broadminded, nonconforming, independent, freedom-loving, scientific, and helpful.

The name 'Aquarius' sounds like it might be a Water Sign, but it is actually the last Air Sign - the most complex, yet laser-focused of the Air Signs.

Air energy is centered around the mind, not the heart. Intellectual, curious, and deeply social, the Air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) are passionate about interpersonal dynamics, but tend to be the least emotional in relationships and life in general.  Logic tends to rule over all else.

As the last air sign in the zodiac, however, Aquarius takes these concepts to a whole other level. If you have your Sun in Aquarius, you are known for your originality and independent thinking, as well as your humanitarian values and concern for the greater good.

You possess an especially sharp and analytical mind, able to understand complex systems and how they can be updated. Having a unique perspective on the world, you and are not afraid to challenge conventional thinking or societal norms.

Dealing with groups is where you shine; helping others so that they can help themselves appeals to you.

You are highly idealistic in nature, and while Aquarians are known for holding a sincere and deep love for the idea of humanity, you aren't especially fond of intimate one-on-one interactions.  As comedian Adam Ferrara (Aquarius Sun Gemini Moon) once put it, "I love humanity, but people suck!"

Aquarian Themes

Individualistic:

You value your independence and autonomy highly, and you are not one to conform to the expectations of others or traditional standards. You have a strong sense of self and are unapologetically yourself, even if it means going against the grain. Aquarians are born opposite Leo on the Zodiac wheel and generally do not have large, pompous or stuffy egos; you rarely bother to exert yourself to win approval or compliments from others.

Visionary:

As an Aquarius, you have a talent for thinking ahead and imagining a better future. You get excited about bringing new ideas and methods into old, traditional environments. You are philosophical, visionary, and idealistic. You attempt to better everyone's situation as much as you can out of feelings of camaraderie. Sometimes, the people you want to help don't understand these new ways and react negatively toward them. Sometimes, you rebel just for the pleasure of it.  Sometimes, you are simply ahead of your time, although other times, you may be perceived as cranks.

Detached:

While you are highly intellectual and analytical, you can also be emotionally detached at times. You tend to approach situations with a logical and rational mindset, which can sometimes come across as cold or aloof to others.

Although you may appear cold or aloof, you are not really indifferent to others. It's just that you are much more concerned with humanity as a whole rather than any one particular individual. Since Aquarians generally do not have large, pompous, or stuffy egos, you rarely bother to exert yourself to win approval or compliments.

Work:

You thrive in work environments that allow you to express your individuality and creativity. You enjoy working on projects that are intellectually stimulating and that have the potential to make a positive impact on society. You are also drawn to careers that allow you to work independently and that provide you with a high degree of freedom and autonomy.  You prefer to not be bound by schedules and regulations, but can easily adapt to them if you must.

Transits to your Sun, especially from the outer planets, greatly affect its expression as well.
